The one-minute version: This Bailey's CBD review is built on something most reviews skip: the company publishes a full batch report for every product it sells, and I read them. What those reports show is that the number on the front of the bottle is not the strength. The plain oils test above their label, sometimes far above. The Extra Strength bottle tests below its label because the 900 mg is counting CBD plus CBG. Once you price each bottle by the milligrams the lab actually found, the cheapest CBD in the line is the ordinary 600 mg bottle, at about half the cost per milligram of the premium one. For a senior dog with arthritis, that plain bottle or the Hip & Joint version is the sensible buy, and the Extra Strength is worth its premium only if you need the dose volume down.

Two things about that table are worth noticing before anything else. The multipacks are not discounts: four bags of chews cost exactly four times one bag. And the $4.99 trial bag is the cheapest way I have found to answer the question that decides everything else, which is whether your dog will eat the thing at all.

The Label Is Not the Strength

Bailey's publishes 121 batch reports on its lab results page, each one a full certificate of analysis rather than a summary. That is more disclosure than most of this category offers, and it is the reason this review can say anything specific. I pulled the reports for the main SKUs and compared the measured cannabinoid content against what the bottle claims.

Each row above uses the CBD figure that report prints for the product as sold. The two laboratories present it slightly differently: Purity Medical prints a Total CBD result, which folds in the acid form, and Belcosta prints CBD directly. The gap between the two conventions is a few percent and does not move any conclusion here, but it is the reason to read a specific report rather than compare numbers across brands.

The chews behave the same way in miniature. Measured total CBD came in at 3.16 mg for the 3 mg Hip & Joint chew, 3.28 mg for the 3 mg Calming chew, and 6.61 mg for the 6 mg Omega chew.

Overdelivery is the safer direction to miss in, and it is the opposite of what CBD label surveys usually find. It still matters, because it means the front label is not the number to calculate a dose from.

The front label on the 30 mL Original bottle reads 300 mg. The June 2025 report for that batch measures 410 mg. Both numbers are honest; only one of them is the one to dose from.

The Extra Strength bottle looks like the exception and is not really one. Its report shows 22.59 mg/mL of CBD alongside 11.30 mg/mL of CBG, which is the 2:1 ratio the name refers to. Add those and you are back above 900 mg for the bottle. So the 900 is counting both cannabinoids. That is a defensible way to label a two-cannabinoid product, and it is also the reason a buyer comparing it to a 600 mg bottle will overestimate the step up. In CBD terms the jump is 15.02 to 22.59 mg/mL, about one and a half times, not the three times the labels suggest.

Two different California-licensed laboratories did this work: Purity Medical Laboratories in Irvine for the June 2025 batches, Belcosta Labs in Long Beach for the March 2025 ones. The Belcosta certificates carry a line stating they are for quality assurance purposes and are not California compliance certificates, which is normal for products sold as hemp rather than through the cannabis system, and worth knowing rather than glossing over.

The Cheapest Milligram Is Not the Bottle You Would Expect

Once the measured numbers replace the label numbers, the price comparison inverts.

The plain 600 mg bottle delivers CBD at half the cost of the premium one. It is also not far behind on concentration, 15.02 against 22.59 mg/mL. For most senior dogs that makes it the default buy, and it makes the Extra Strength a bottle you choose for a specific reason: your dog will not accept the larger volume, or you want the CBG.

This is the kind of comparison that only exists because the company published the underlying data. It is worth crediting them for that even while using it to complicate their own pricing.

What Else the Reports Show

Every Purity Medical certificate I opened reports a pass on the full safety panel: pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, and water activity. For a category with a long history of contaminated product, batch-level passes on all four are the baseline you should insist on, and Bailey's meets it.

The reports also quantify something the marketing does not. These are full-spectrum products, so they contain THC. The Original 150 mg bottle measured 0.534 mg/mL of total THC, or about 8 mg in the bottle. The Extra Strength measured 0.882 mg/mL, about 26 mg in a 30 mL bottle. As a percentage this is well under the 0.3% federal hemp threshold, and it is not a reason to avoid full-spectrum products, which is what the Cornell osteoarthritis research used. It is a reason to mention the specific product to your vet, because THC is the component that matters if a dog gets into the bottle. Dosing Bailey's for a Senior Dog

The most-cited framework comes from the Cornell study: 2 mg/kg twice daily for joint discomfort. Applied to the measured strengths rather than the labels:

Start lower than this, around 0.5 mg/kg twice daily for the first three to five days, and work up if she tolerates it. Bailey's own bottle guidance suggests the 600 mg size for dogs up to 100 lbs. That corresponds to a much lighter daily amount than the study protocol. Both numbers are legitimate; they answer different questions. Decide which one you are following, with your vet, before you pick a bottle size.

Who Bailey's Is Right For

The owner of a large senior dog who wants the research dose without the research price. At 6.7 cents per measured milligram, the plain 600 mg bottle is the least expensive way I have found to run a 60 lb dog at 2 mg/kg twice daily from a brand that publishes its lab work. A month at that dose runs roughly three and a half bottles, which is real money, and it is meaningfully less real money than the alternatives.

The owner who wants the arthritis formula and cares that the label is honest. The Hip & Joint oil measured within 2% of its label, the tightest match in the line, and it targets the condition where CBD has the strongest evidence in dogs.

The owner who checks things. One hundred twenty-one published certificates, downloadable, batch by batch, is unusual. If you are the sort of person who wants to verify a claim rather than trust it, this brand gives you the material to do it, including the material that complicates its own labels.

The owner whose dog is a difficult customer. A $4.99 five-chew bag answers the palatability question for the price of a coffee, before you commit to a $30 bag or a $60 bottle.

Who Should Skip It

Anyone treating a dog on other medications without talking to their vet first. This is not a Bailey's issue. It applies to every product in this category, and the liver enzyme question is real.

It is worth being precise about the claim. The company's own About page describes him as a long-standing supporter who has lent guidance to the brand, and says the weight-based dosage guide it uses is his. That is a real association. It is a different statement from a product having been formulated by him, and the distinction is worth keeping straight when a veterinarian's name appears on a package.
