Activity is restricted (no running, no rough play, no swimming). Most dogs are back to normal activity by 3 months post-op, with the eye drop regimen tapering off over that window. Owners describe the post-op period as "intensive at first, easier as it goes." The result for most dogs is restored vision and a return to normal daily life.

Can a blind senior dog have a good quality of life?

Yes, in most cases. Dogs rely far less on vision than humans do, scent, hearing, and spatial memory carry the majority of their navigation. Most senior dogs adapt to blindness within a few weeks when the home is set up to support them: unchanged furniture layout, low-warm nightlights at key landmarks, verbal cues for transitions, leash on walks.
